Garter A garter was originally an elasticated band which was used to keep socks or stockings up. These days it is a frivolous accessory worn by many brides at a wedding, often as the 'something blue'. They can be in any colour, although the most usual are blue, white or ivory. The latter two coloured garters sometimes incorporate a blue ribbon or other decoration, so the bride still has her 'something blue'.
Parasol is a curved piece of material attached to a long handle. It means against the sun and they were originally carried by ladies to protect their complexions from the ravages of sunlight. They were often highly decorated, often with a frill around the edge. Today parasols are used less often but are becoming popular for brides and bridesmaids to carry at weddings to create beautiful photographs.
Ring Cushion This is a small cushion with ribbons which are used to attach the two wedding rings at the marriage ceremony. It is often carried by a small bridesmaid or page boy. The material used is often a satin type giving a soft feel and they can be decorated with embroidery or appliqué designs for a beautiful wedding accessory.
Wedding Bag A bride doesn't usually carry anything except flowers at her wedding, but there may be one or two little items which she will need, so the wedding bag comes into its own. It is a little material pouch bag with draw strings which she can wear over her wrist. it is usually made of a fine material with pretty decorations on the outside.
