Pendants

The word Pendant derives from the Latin word for to hang and in fact a pendant usually refers to an item of jewellery which hangs from a chain worn around the neck.  The difference between a pendant and a necklace is that a necklace has the decoration as part of the chain and is not removable from the chain as a pendant is.

Locket
: A locket is often hung on a chain so the owner can wear it round their neck.  This is a hinged ornament in which small items can be placed, such as a lock of hair.

Marcasite
is a grey coloured mineral which is often used in jewellery to resemble vintage jewellery.  When cut it  can look like diamonds and can add a sparkle to the item on which it is used.

Marquise
refers to a gem or jewel which is oval in shape and pointed both ends.

Millefiori
refers to the style of glass decoration used in jewellery made in Murano, Italy which is created to make it resemble flowers (fiori in Italian).

Pave
describes an ornamentation where the surface is covered in stones/gems.

Starfish
This is a marine creature having 5 arms, making them resemble a star shape.  They are a popular shape for jewellery.
